merry christmas…

It went much to fast – as usual. Portland to Seattle, Seattle back to Portland. Family dinners, LOTS of Christmas music, cookie decorating and gifts in between. I missed out on one of my favorite parts – Christmas eve service – due to the drive but it was a very lovely holiday none-the-less!

Merry Christmas to you and yours… and a joyful new year.

nursery inspiration: parisian chic

One of my favorite movies is Sabrina… and I think that the remake with Harrison Ford and Julia Ormond is just as wonderful as the original with Audrey Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart. Although not much can top the beautifully romantic ending, there is something simply peaceful and magic about the time Sabrina spends in Paris. Inspiration for this love-filled nursery comes from just that; old romantic movies, bridges in Paris, and having a beautiful space for making memories.

The dark green dupioni silk in the crib bedding from Dimples & Dandelions (below) is unexpected and calming, pulling the green out of the gorgeous floral Anthropologie chair… a perfect late-night place for soothing baby back to sleep.

Curtains: ikat linen window panels from West Elm in ivory/straw. Chandelier: red murano glass on etsy. Wire mannequin: perfect for displaying hats, feather boas, whimsical tutus.

To adorn the walls: beautiful photographs of Paris, my favorite is the one with the red balloon! All from Etsy.

1. La Rue by RetrospectPhoto 2. The Red Balloon by TCaponePhoto 3. Orange Bicycle in Paris (no longer available)

More darling additions for the nursery below! I absolutely love the vintage hand-carved rocking horse.

1. Copper clad dresser from Anthropologie 2. Vintage Carosel Rocking Horse on ebay 3. Felted turtle dove woolly egg toys from Etsy 4. Bengel Tiger rug from West Elm

style files for the little guy

Although it’s admittedly a bit tougher to find the abundance of adorable things for your little guy that are readily available for the gals, it certainly isn’t impossible. Today I wanted to feature just a few things for the little mister in your life that will have him turning heads (as if he doesn’t already)!

It’s all about the shoes, baby! Fuzzy booties from Edoche.  L’Amour Shoes navy nubuck boots. Converse plaid Allstar-Low. The “Lucas” baby shoe from pink2blue on etsy.

Plaid suit from Little Maven. Absolutely adorable worn together or as separates (that blazer with denim would be SO stinkin’ cute). Also available on zulily.com until 12/16.

Plaid button up from Lunchbox. Little Guy Ties in all styles and sizes from Little Londyn (pattern available for DIYers). Lattice pattern shirt from Little Maven. Brown and blue Cardi from Jacadi Paris – also available from Gilt through 12/15.

lines we love – Masala Baby

Using a palette of colors inspired by the curry flavors of Indian masala and the vibrant Bollywood culture, Masala Baby blends Indian roots with high quality fabrics to create modern, eclectic, and wearable clothing for infants and toddlers (girls and boys ages 6 months to 6 years). All of the fabrics are sourced exclusively from India using techniques unique to local artisans from the weaving to block print and embroidery. One of the things that defines the brand are it’s signature colors: saffron, clove brown, raani pink and turmeric yellow. Though the inspiration for the brand come from the vibrant colors, flavors, and culture of India, it was conceived in Brooklyn in 2009 and since has taken hold in retailers across the US.

Through 12/16 find Masala Baby on zulily.com up to 35% off!

nursery inspiration – A is for Alien, P is for Pirate

When I saw this darling pirate crib sheet on etsy from RoosterLegs, I knew it had to be the inspiration for a room. Pair it with a striped crib skirt, solid bumper with contrast trim, and possibly a polka dot pillow. If you’re feeling creative or in a DIY mood, check out  spoonflower.com to design and print your own fabrics! I wanted to keep the colors bold and bright, lines clean and modern, and anchor it all back to pretty gray walls (I picked Gray Horse 2140-50 from Benjamin Moore).

Another huge source of inspiration: some fabulous artwork from etsy. I love how unique the “A for Alien” print from KZukowski and whimsical bird art from falldowntree are!

More ideas for components of this colorful nursery:

KNAPPA hanging light from Ikea. GEDSER multi-color rug from Ikea. Babyletto Modo crib (matching changing table available). Storage basket from Ikea.

Red & white polka dot curtains from PBteen. Teal ring sheer curtain from PBteen. Retro Rocker from the Land of Nod. Dino rocker from eRockingHorses.com.

your nursery design featured here!

Planning a room for baby is such an exciting, intimidating, and sometimes frustrating process. Sharing ideas and inspiration for nursery design and DIY projects is one of my favorite parts of having this blog so I thought it was time to start including some real-life baby room success stories.

Starting in January I would love to feature one real room each month (maybe more, maybe less depending on how it goes) but in order to do that I need help from you! If you would love to have your baby’s room featured on Bella Bambini I would be thrilled to hear from you.

Please email us at bellabambinidesign@gmail.com and include at least 2-3 photos plus a short description of your inspiration and some of the products used. We’ll get more in-depth info from you if your design is chosen to be in the spotlight. Also – if you have any DIY nursery projects that turned out great, please send those ideas as well.

If you are just starting the adventure of designing a room for baby, share the progress with us! Send photos and updates along the way or if you get stuck on something and want advice, I’m happy to give some feedback.

Looking forward to hearing from you!!!

styling the bump – with H&M fashion studio

Today I discovered such a fun styling tool — with all of my poking around on the H&M website, I can’t believe I haven’t found this before. Fashion Studio is a virtual dressing room allowing you to put together potential outfits on a pictured model from the comfort of your own home before heading out to shop. One of my least favorite parts of shopping is spending time in the fitting room so by taking advantage of this little find, I can get a head start on the process. Not to mention – it’s just plain fun… I could spend hours dressing up this virtual “paper doll”. Oh – and they offer a men’s option as well. Definitely could come in use shopping for the hubby!

Here are a few of my favorite creations thus-far, all with dressing a bump in mind. While H&M does offer maternity in some of their locations, silhouettes on many of the non-maternity pieces have plenty of room for a rapidly growing belly.

Knit beret with flower. White oversize tunic top. Camel cozy knit poncho. Black stretch skinnys. Tan suede cuffed booties. Snow leopard print clutch. Perfect for dinner out!

Chocolate tiered ruffle dress. Taupe lace tights. Red suede platform pumps. Giraffe print clutch w/gold hardware. Wooden bangle w/metal studs. Christmas cocktails anyone?

Black and white striped tunic sweater. Black cropped cigarette pant. Fushia pointed toe flats. Black brimmed hat w/grosgrain ribbon trim. Black, tan, and ivory weekend tote. Multi-metallic bangles. Everything you need for a weekend overnight trip!

Tan oversized cardi. Floral tunic dress. Leopard print leggings. Slouchy tan suede boots. Large black handbag. Perfectly polished for shopping or lunch with friends!
