I don’t know about the rest of the country but in Portland right now it’s raining cats & dog<\/strong>s<\/strong>! Our back patio (a fabulous place to relax and entertain in nice weather) has since turned into a mini lake. The same can be said for many a backyard, neighborhood park, or playground once the sun turns to showers come fall. So… what in the world do you do with the little on<\/strong>es<\/strong> who are super active and\u00a0love the outdoors<\/strong> once the weather gets wet?<\/p>\n

Growing up in Seattle, some of my favorite rainy day memories were from the Seattle Children’s Museum<\/a> or Pacific Science Center<\/a>. Right now through Jan. 30, 2011 they have a special Harry Potter exhibit<\/strong> sure to please kids of all ages! In Portland, visit\u00a0OMSI<\/a> (Oregon Museum of Science and Industry). Also – if you have the chance to get away for a Thursday date night<\/strong>, check out OMSI After-Dark<\/a>, an adults-only time to play and explore all the things kids young and old love about OMSI!<\/p>\n

In other major metro areas check out California Science Center<\/a> (in it’s final few weeks of it’s fabulous mummies exhibit<\/strong>), Carnegie Science Center<\/a> in Pittsburgh,\u00a0St. louis Science Center<\/a> in Missouri or Museum of Nature and Science<\/a> in Dallas, TX. Of course the culture-rich east coast cities including D.C. and New York have a plethora of fabulous museums etc., to entertain on a rainy day!
