The Christmas decorations are just recently put away and in many areas of the country we’re still getting a few snowflakes falling from time to time but in the world of fashion, the Spring<\/strong> shows are history and the collections are already arriving in store. That means it’s a new year, time for new looks and a perfect opportunity to start transitioning your winter wardrobe with some fabulous spring style<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Ladylike elegance<\/strong> of the 1950s and 60s ruled the runway for Spring 11, probably having something to do with the continued popularity of the TV show\u00a0Mad Men <\/strong>(pictured above). This continued into a stream of 1970s themes<\/strong> like Marc Jacobs vibrant collection and the ‘bohemian beachcomber done luxe’ of Emilio Pucci, Jacobs especially seeming to draw on powerhouses of the era like Missoni and YSL.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Free People Sheer Maxi Slipdress<\/a> ($98). Pedro Garcia\u00a0‘Ibiza’<\/a> Satin espadrille flat ($325). Free People ‘Up in the Clouds’<\/a> Tunic Sweater ($108).<\/p>\n

Styles are clean and crisp<\/strong>, even minimal in some cases. Nudes and neutrals,<\/strong> sheer fabric<\/strong> and layers dominate. In shoes:<\/strong> wedges, ballerinas, flat sandals and lace up oxfords were shown in leathers and satins with cork and woven detailing. Bling was replaced with glittering gold<\/strong>. Prints are back in a big way with botanical<\/strong> and florals. Stripes <\/strong>made a statement\u00a0especially on the runways of Prada and Jil Sander.<\/p>\n
